You can also replace the rods with another form of robotic arms for more flexibility,

which will eliminate the need for rotation, but it will be more costly.

There is a lot of adjustments needed here, but I think the foundation i've made is alright...

 

The idea is, the longer the drill, the many more plates it will carry, and the time required in building the tunnel will be lessened almost complete automation as the drill moves forward.

 

After this, a human or a tesla bot can start spraying the cement to reinforce the honeycombs.

And later another machine to just polish the rough ends of the cement.

Though gravity is a concern for the top. As the liquid cement will fall once pasted.

So then, once the bottom and the sides up to 75% will be complete with the cement,

then paste the cement with help of a mechanical (not robotic) contraption that can just hold things after the paste.
