Alright, going to focus on some chores this day...

How about inner ring as particle collider to generate energy.

And when that energy is built up enough,

Use the outer ring as a particle collider to create deliberate explosions.

 

But this explosion, must be harnessed without damaging the ship at colliding point.

 

And the ship itself is in the middle of the rings.

 

So then loop of the tunnel at the colliding point of the particles would be cut off.

 

So not to be in contact with the explosion.

 

And those areas could be forced an field of electromagnetism/electrical field so strong,

that it provides a forcefield like in star trek?

 

Ok. I will stop embarassing myself with sci-fi ideas.

 

But to harness the power of such explosions..

So if the blue circle represents the ship,

the ring surrounding it could be a barrier/particle accelerator for power. (or to help the main source of power)

and the outer ring is the particle collider. (orange dots represent particles colliding)

and the red area is where enhanced force-field can be, to harness that explosion without damage on to the ship.

But maybe the angles are wrong,

if the exit point of the particles are higher up the outer ring,

the meeting point would have some distance between the ship and the explosion itself,

though particles colliding from that distance maybe unpredictable...

 

 

Anyway, I will stop daydreaming for now.
