If the effect of what they intended as harm is real,

then everything is of course, inevitably, real.

There are no excuses to his actions. All this suffering could have been dramatically reduced,

Then running away to the States, he proceeded, continued with exploitation of
this prejudice now with social subjugation, which INCLUDED slander of homosexual activity.
