Retractable pillars were a result of my playing with Sketchup.

Making of cubes and protruding or retracting them as a feature.

It follows the direct principles of the Space Escalator and in the same program.

And the isometric game, "Tactics Ogre", of which I was thinking of. (They are all in cubes)

 

It was first presented as a way to create artificial filming sets.

Just like in the video game.  

Of which i've drawn in sketch up.

However, unlike the video game, curvatures would need to be placed on top of those cubes.

Whether be it ground, or as roofs. Which would need adaptations and machining with wood/metal, and even dirt/grass, etc.

But most of the volume that is required would be covered, and ever-morphing into the shapes and height people need as ground work.

Cameras are are usually placed on top above a ceiling isolated from the pillars, as the pillars are enwrapped inside an outside frame. (For the cameras) For the pillars, where there are no roofs, that can work as and advantage as most filming sets do not have roofs.

 

So that was the first suggestion.

Then I changed the pillars into greenscreen pillars, maybe 6 to 1 year later.

So to cover the volume of the set people walking around in certain dimensional axis and height, but rest everything can be CGI.

Then I suggested a geodesic frame surrounding the pillars, and attaching volumetric cameras everywhere, in order to capture the filming in 3D, and edit the camera angles with much footage as possible.

The time between these ideas were quite long. I simply went back to it.

One of the drawings of the retractable/protruding mechanism was presented to Mr Musk.

It contained a motor at the bottom and the gear mechanism that followed. Though my thoughts were rudimentary at the time, and the drawing wasn't that great. It contained a long gear line and on top of it were the pillar, and the bottom, for each pillar contained a dedicated motor for itself.

 

 

After ALL that work. Returning back to it over and over again.

 

I used the principles for the California wildfire.

 

And this fucker, tries to steal it?

 

When the previous iterations were DIRECT elemental principles of this idea, and it never gave out a solution as a foresight?

Ms Kelly Battles and Adam saw the first drawing of the retractable 'set'. Whether I presented as a way to use it as a filming set at the first try I cannot remember. But I do remember drawing it in Sketchup.

I think Ms Charlize Theron was later there listening to what I was making? As I was going back to it, maybe she appeared.

(Because I made a joke early in all this, with Ms Kristen Stewart and  Ms Charlize Theron)
