I've attempted a similar thing long ago I believe. I remember the suggesting the forcefield. If you remember mr Musk. can't quite recall...

Another design:

 

 

Left:

Red = some form of energy that meets together to create an explosion at that angle.

Green = physical shield that slides into merge, to take advantage of the explosion while protecting the ship.

 

 

Right:

Red: Explosion.

Green: Merged shield.

 

 

No idea if that energy can collide in the vacuum of space,

nor is the physical shield capable of withstanding it without damage.

 

Assuming no energy-based shield is possible.
