Another way to tell is,

ask Steve for each idea it claims as his,

what was the factor for "don't let idiots talk to you out of it."

what was the reason for the idea to be persuaded out of its merit?

 

Whatever it claims, see if that makes sense.

Or if it is a forced lie.
