It depends on the context, however, I doubt this person is speaking correctly.

Rather speaking from intent to 'win'.

Your words should hold neutral tone as a public figure and passive acquaintance to Steve.

But when you are relentless, acting by your preference and antagonizing me by this support.

Your words will hold weight in the law.

Then they are one in the same intent, at least partially.
