if in flight, that is moving forward,

it is not to reach the original destination,

as would the core.

 

These boosters, jet engines on the wings,

they are designed to last for not so long.

 

There isn't enough space for the fuel, or enlarged battery.

 

So the secondary destination would be,

somewhere nearest to safety.

 

 

I think... aiming flight from mid-air assisted by the booster is a bit off.

 

But Mr Musk would know better.
