I think a tower is better as sensor coverage.

 

Not small sensors hidden throughout.

 

Then unless they use a very expensive EMP weapon,

 

they can't destroy the tower.

 

 

 

 

So towers, covering the territory.

 

And automated "drone-vehicles"

 

with an aim at immobilizing the target,

 

and keeping them locked inside.

 

 

It would be a modification of the FSD software,

 

but nothing improbable.
