Instead CNC,
one could also think about casting, with pre-designed molds.
which would be faster than even CNC.
however, these molds must be designed to interlock together,
and be many in variations, in order to build from ground up.
The buildings, then, can be scaled. But the aesthetics of it
will be incredibly predictable and dull.
Assume 20~40 or so molds, including designs for amenities,
such as bridges.
Finishing touches will be welds and again, partial casting,
in order to fuse the compartments together.
But CNC, will save a lot of luggage, and will provide flexibility in design.
Adaptation as well.
As for replacement to laser,
if much more powerful explosion is used on the mining site,
without changing the properties of the minerals...
But then again, lasers can be used for that same effect.
Scaled up in power.
