As for laser mining Mr Musk,

if lasers can blow up a plane,

it certainly can weaker materials...

Depends on the power of the laser.

So it may seem like fantasy or not so practical,

but a bipedal robot, Optimus robot, is enough sophistication

to, if at giant scale, to move over rough terrains.

But direct contact with the robot body will inevitably

wear it down quickly. So hence the nuclear powered laser,

could be of use, obliterating things. Mountains, for instance.

For later collection of minerals.

It can be transferred if an entire starship was enwrapped around it...

Very symbolic as well if can be made.

As for... adding metal panels to the wooden frame, to use as gears.

It may not be as durable as the fully metal gears but, in many cases,

if to create giant objects (not the robot, as it is in direct contact with the environment,

it needs more durability) such as moving buildings, clockworks and things of that sort,

it will be lasting I think....
