on the door slides,

 

bottom panel as main pathway with gears,

 

but to secure the weight of the door,

 

a self rotating gear suspended in position

 

following the pathway, in the mid area of the car,

 

and above as well possibly.

 

 

but i'm sure the engineers can figure it out easily
